The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has charged a Warren man with two counts of unlawful trafficking in marijuana.

Drug agents began investigating Kenneth Gray, 56, after the Maine Warden Service observed him selling marijuana to two men in Waldoboro last month. Drug agents learned that Gray was a registered primary caregiver under the Maine Medical Use of Marijuana Program.

Agents who went to Gray’s residence in Warren on Wednesday found two warehouses that had been converted into marijuana growing facilities. Gray said he was a primary caregiver with five qualified patients. Agents, however, determined that the growing facilities were not in compliance with the state’s requirements for being a caregiver.

Agents seized 212 marijuana plants, and over eight pounds of processed marijuana with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Gray was summoned Wednesday in connection with the marijuana sales incident in Waldoboro and for the violations at his facility.

He has a court date on Sept. 14 at the Rockland Unified Court.

Deputies of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
