BAR HARBOR (AP) — Maine’s Jackson Laboratory is getting more than $800,000 from the federal government to conduct research on aging.
Sen. Susan Collins and Sen. Angus King said that the grant for $835,037 from the Department of Health and Human Services will help the laboratory in Bar Harbor continue its research on the aging process. The money is going to the Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging at the Jackson Laboratory.
King and Collins say it’s vital to grow our country’s knowledge of the aging process, with the “Baby Boomer” generation in or entering retirement.
