PORTLAND (AP) — The owner of a Portland diner is defending her actions and comments she made on social media after yelling at a 2-year-old child for crying in her restaurant.
Darla Neugebauer, owner of Marcy’s Diner, wrote on Facebook that she yelled at the girl after she had been crying for more than 40 minutes straight while her parents talked. She says the parents ordered three full-sized pancakes for the child, which takes longer to cook, especially on a busy Saturday.
Neugebauer told WCSHTV that the parents ignored the child, even after she was served.
The mother of the child wrote on Facebook that anyone with young children should understand that crying is normal after waiting more than 40 minutes for food.
