SACO — Edward E. O’Connor Jr., 71, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning on July 23, 2015, at home of a heart attack.

He was born in Portland on Jan. 14, 1944, a son of Edward and Elizabeth (Britt) O’Connor. He graduated from Westbrook High School, Class of 1962.

Ed served his country in the United States Marines. After the service he was employed as a police officer for the City of Portland. He later worked as a private investigator for seven years.

He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed hiking and hunting. He loved being at their condo in Sugarloaf and made many timeless memories there with family and friends.

His wife Sandy says “Ed was the nicest person she had ever met.” He will be best remembered as a good man with a kind heart, a best friend, great father and husband. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Sandy (Parisien) O’Connor; his children, Edward O’Connor III of Saco, Margaret O’Connor of Portland, Jim Keithley of Portland, and Brian Keithley of Saco; and three grandchildren, Michael Poore, Alex O’Connor and Kaya O’Connor.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25 in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
