ARUNDEL — An early-morning fire destroyed a garage at 352 Log Cabin Road in Arundel on Friday.
Arundel firefighters were called to the fire by both the owner of the garage and somebody driving by at about 1:30 in the morning, Deputy Chief Justin Cooper, of Arundel Fire-Rescue, said Friday afternoon.
“Unfortunately, when they called it in they were already saying it was fully involved,” he said, adding that the garage was a total loss.
Cooper said four to five Arundel fire trucks as well as five to six trucks from Biddeford, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport responded to the call to find the 20-by-40-foot garage engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said.
There were no injuries in the fire, said Cooper, and it was not near any houses or other structures. Although its cause is still being investigated, Cooper said the fire appears to have been an accidental electrical fire.
“Right now they’re saying accidental, most likely electrical,” he said.
