BIDDEFORD — Raymond J. Paquette, 89, of Biddeford, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco, following a long illness with his family by his side.

He was born Sept. 1, 1925 in St. Honore de Shenley, Quebec, Canada, a son of Alfred and Anna (Begin) Paquette.

Raymond came here at the age of 8 and was educated at Notre Dame de Lourdes School in Saco and St. Louis High School in Biddeford.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

On May 22, 1948, he married Pauline Cote in St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach.

Raymond had been employed as a machinist at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 22 years, retiring in 1986.

Ray treasured his wife Pauline and family. His smile was a gift to them all. Some of his passions included music, card games, and the Red Sox.

He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW. He and Pauline were very committed to St. Andre’s Church and participated in many capacities, including lector and the music ministry. They were also involved in St. Paul’s Retreat Center in Augusta and the Charismatic Prayer Group.

Raymond is preceded in death by: five brothers, Victor, Roland, Laurent, Jean Paul, and Henri Paquette; and four sisters, Noella Martel, Marie Paule Petit, Jeanne Gadbois, and Rita Tremblay.

He is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Pauline Paquette of Biddeford; two sons, Normand Paquette and his wife Marietta (May) of Dracut, Massachusetts, and Michael Paquette and his wife Linda of Biddeford; two daughters, Patricia Roy and her husband Richard of Saco, and Dianne Petrin and her husband Steve of Biddeford; a sister, Laurette Cloutier of Saco; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, David, Mark, Travis, Justin, Alison, Zeri, Marielle, Joshua, and Michelle; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Gryphon, Austin, Ethan, Damien, Malique, and Tanner.

Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main St., Saco, ME 04005. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
