PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams can sense a difference upon reporting for his 10th training camp in suburban Rochester.

The Bills have a new brash coach in Rex Ryan, new owners in Terry and Kim Pegula, and a roster stocked with high-priced additions which have combined to generate an offseason-long buzz.

On Wednesday, Williams said “you would have to be blind” to not see the potential.

And now, he added, it’s time to start playing up to those expectations as one of the Bills’ most highly anticipated camps in nearly two decades is set to open Friday.

The Bills are coming off a 9- 7 season, their best in a decade, and attempting to end a 15-season playoff drought — the NFL’s longest active streak.

49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Second-year 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has been elevated to the active roster less than 24 hours after the team announced he was on the active/non-football injury list.

Hyde will be counted upon to carry the load following franchise rushing leader Frank Gore’s departure. He had been placed on the active/non-football injury list four days ahead of the start of training camp.

The team announced Wednesday that Hyde is now active. The only known injury for him during the offseason program was a muscle pull — not his hamstring — that coach Jim Tomsula didn’t discuss in further detail.

Veterans report Friday to Santa Clara headquarters with the first practice Saturday night at Levi’s Stadium.

Cowboys

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — Even if he’s not talking Super Bowl, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also isn’t hiding his optimism going into training camp.

Jones offered his annual overview of the team on the eve of the first training camp practice Wednesday. For the first time in five years, the Cowboys come to camp in Oxnard, California, as defending NFC East champions.
