Topsham — Germain LaRoche, 88, died Friday, July 31, 2015. He was born in Dracut, MA on September 25, 1926 the son of Amedee and Annette (Germain) LaRoche. Gerry was in the U.S. Navy during World War Two aboard the USS Missouri when the peace treaty was signed.

He attended the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He earned both a B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and received a PhD in Ecology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.

His greatest interests were gardening and geology.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Lorraine (Vincent) LaRoche, a son Robert and his wife Nancy LaRoche and three grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.
