SCARBOROUGH – On Monday the Scarborough Police Department released the name of the man who drowned at Pine Point Beach just after noon on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The victim was Scott Ducott, 56. According to a press release issued on Saturday, when Scarborough public safety personnel responded to the report of a drowning they tried for 45 minutes to save Ducott, who could not be resuscitated.

According to the 911 call, which came in at 12:05 p.m., Ducott went underwater in the area of the jetty. Bystanders reached him and brought him ashore on a long board. A responding bike patrol officer initiated CPR until additional rescue units arrived.

“The police and fire departments would like to thank the bystanders who assisted in calling 911 and bringing the victim ashore. Even though we (had) a sad outcome, you gave him a fighting chance and we know his family appreciates your actions,” the press release added.
