SCARBOROUGH (AP) — Maine police say a 56-yearold Scarborough man has drowned at Pine Point Beach.
Police were first notified at about 12:40 p.m. Saturday that a man had gone under the water near a jetty at the Scarborough beach.
WCSH-Television reports that the man was pulled from the water by kayakers who saw him struggling, and brought him to shore on a longboard.
Despite rescuers’ efforts over the course of 45 minutes to revive him using CPR, Scarborough police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the name of the man, who was at the beach with his wife.
The beach is a four-mile expanse that runs along Saco Bay and the Atlantic.
