Marie C. Pottle Breeding, 93, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, in the early evening of Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. Born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Bath, Maine, the daughter of Maurice and Christine Tibbetts Pottle, she attended school at Lincoln Academy.

Marie married the love of her life, James Breeding, on July 4, 1946. The couple were longtime residents of Bath before building their home in Bowdoinham. After Jim’s passing, Marie relocated to her Brunswick home.

Always a hard worker, Marie held many jobs in her life including waitressing in her early years, Auerbach Shoe, and BIW before retiring from the Wentworth Laundry in Bath to become a homemaker. Not one to remain idle, she accompanied her husband to work every day at the Coastal Journal and The Times Record.

Mrs. Breeding was an amazing cook, and loved having her large family around her for family dinners. The love she had for her family was unconditional, and she loved them more than anything in the world. Marie was very excited about the arrival of her first great-great-granddaughter due in December. She also enjoyed crocheting and making special afghans for her family. She adored her beloved poodle, Peaches.

Marie will always be remembered for her sweet disposition, and the kindness she extended to everyone that crossed her path. She was truly one of a kind.

Mrs. Breeding was predeceased by her parents; her brother, John Pottle; her husband, James in 2005; and her son, Wayne, in 2013.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Patricia DelMastro and her husband, Mark, of Brunswick, and Elizabeth Wade, and her husband, Jim, of Bath; six grandchildren, Kimberly Burgess, Kristi Hathor ne- Hasselbacher, Jamie Lasorsa, Toby Hathorne, Shawn Hathorne and Jessica Chandler; and 13 greatgrandchildren, Brooke, Allie, Stephanie, Cole, Jolene, Kasie, Christine, Alexsandra, Kloee, James, Lilith, Gabriel and Lucas. She also leaves many special nieces, nephews, brothersin law, sisters-in-law, and extended family members, including her son-in-law, Niel Hathorne.

Friends are invited to be with the family, from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A service will held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at the Sheepscot Cemetery, Kings Highway, Newcastle.
