PORTLAND — The Portland Sea Dogs used a five-run third and a solid start from Luis Diaz to take the Eastern League series finale over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-3 in front of a sellout crowd on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Trailing 2-0 entering the third, Tim Roberson put Portland on the board with an RBI double to halve the Fisher Cats lead. After Oscar Tejeda walked to load the bases, Dustin Lawley worked a two-out walk from Scott Barnes to force in the tying run. Luis Martinez then took an 0-2 pitch from Barnes and hit it off the wall in right-center field to score all three runners and break the tie to give Portland a 5-2 lead.

Diaz (2-10) earned his first victory since July 6 at Binghamton. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits in 5 1-3 innings, walking four and striking out six. Heri Quevedo (S, 1) picked up a save by working the final 3 2-3 innings and keeping the Fisher Cats scoreless.

The Sea Dogs padded their lead with two runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Tzu-Wei Lin and Sam Travis. Lin, Travis, Roberson, Lawley and Martinez each had two hits apiece for Portland.

The Sea Dogs hit the road to begin an eight-game road trip, beginning tonight at New Britain. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
