SACO — Jenny (Litchos) Boutet, 84, of Saco, died on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, after a brave seven-year battle with cancer.

Born on April 16, 1931 in Saco, Jenny was the beloved daughter of Apostolos and Ekaterina (Gangis) Litchos. She attended Saco schools, and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1948.

Jenny married Norman Boutet in 1954, and they walked side by side through life for 61 wonderful years. They spent nearly 30 years in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, raising their family there before retiring to their “house by the sea” in Saco in 1985.

Jenny’s life’s work was nurturing her home and family. She was proud of her Greek heritage, raising her daughters to be fluent in the Greek language, and delighting everyone with a pan of spanakopita or a batch of Greek desserts. Jenny loved gardening, painting, and was happiest at the beach. She was an avid fan of old black and white movies, and could solve the daily Jumble faster than anyone we know.

Jenny is preceded in death: by her parents; and her three older brothers, Charlie, Chris and Jimmy Litchos.

She is survived by: her husband, Norman of Saco; her daughter, Norma (Boutet) Manning and husband Michael of Cohasset, Massachusetts; her daughter, Julie Boutet of Saco; and her step-daughter, Pam (Boutet) Edge and her family (Christian, Richelle and Adriyanna) of Windham. She also leaves a niece, Sylvia (Litchos) Kita of Hollis, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Koula Litchos of Statesville, North Carolina; and dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews from the extended Boutet family. Jenny will be deeply missed by her best school chums, Janet Huot of Saco, and Frani Ready of Biddeford; and by her beloved neighbors in Bayview Terrace. Even her comfort bear Otis may have shed a tear.

We will all miss her sharp wit, her wry observations about life, and most of all her incredibly generous nature.

We would like to thank Dr. Laurie Small and the entire team at MMC Scarborough for their compassionate care; you were our safe harbor during this storm.

At Jenny’s request, there will be no public services. Should friends desire, memorial donations can be made in Jenny’s memory to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074; or online at www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org/give.

Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To view Jenny’s memorial page or to leave an online condolence, visit www.cotefuneralhome.com.
