NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — A 21-yearold Pittsfield man has been convicted of raping a University of Massachusetts freshman in her Amherst dorm room nearly three years ago.

A jury on Wednesday found Adam Liccardi guilty of two counts of aggravated rape and one count of rape. He was acquitted of one count of aggravated rape.

Liccardi’s lawyer has said the sex was consensual. The victim denied it. Liccardi will be held without bail until his sentencing Oct. 6.

He is the third young men to be convicted in the case. A fourth is still facing trial.

The four defendants, then all either 17 or 18, were charged with raping the woman in October 2012. None of the suspects was a UMass student, but they all knew her. The woman drank alcohol and smoked marijuana with the defendants.
