TOPSHAM — Megan Thomas-Copland scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime to lift the Mt. Ararat High School field hockey team to a 2-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lewiston on Wednesday in season-opening action.

Lewiston (0-1) struck first on a goal by Jazlyn Dumas in the opening half, but the Eagles, 1-0 and slated to visit Brunswick on Friday at 4 p.m., answered on an Eva Jerome tally in the second stanza.

Haley Frizzle had eight saves in the win.
