September 2015
September in Maine is a wonderful time of year. It’s still warm – and yes it is still summer despite local weather commentators rushing us into winter. The sun’s angle makes for warm days and then cool evenings and mornings. I would encourage visitors to make plans to come to Maine, especially the Biddeford+Saco Region and enjoy all we have to offer.
Our friends in Waterboro will have plenty of apples this fall. Most reports are saying there is a bumper crop. I encourage you to take a visit to the Waterboro area and do some apple picking and enjoy home- made pies and other treats.
We hope you have made plans to attend our 11th annual business expo at XL SportsWorld on North Street in Saco on September 16th from Noon till 4PM. Come meet local merchants and see what Biddeford+Saco has to offer in goods, services, products and support. 70 plus businesses will be in attendance. Best of all-it’s FREE!
I hope you marked your calendar for the pedestrian bridge dedication on September 19th. Come walk on the new bridge and spend time at the farmers market. There will be activities, events and displays that will highlight the economic development that is happening in the mill district. Following the dedication, enjoy music at Riverjam in Mechanics Park and enjoy a meal at one of our many restaurants. I encourage you to stop in at our local favorites and take a moment to check out the many new establishments in our area. We hope you will do some shopping as well. Our merchants work hard and need our support. And as always, we encourage you to “Buy Local” and “Choose a Chamber Member First.” Before heading to spend the day in Biddeford, Saco, Waterboro and the surrounding towns, please go online at www.biddefordsacochamber.org and get a list of our members. You can also stop in and visit our Welcome Center at 28 Water Street in Biddeford and pick up a Community Directory and Visitor Guidebook to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Finally, please remember schools are back in session so please drive responsibly and safely. Our children are our future.
Thank you for supporting the Chamber.
