BOSTON —The Boston Red Sox have placed Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.

The 31-year-old Ramirez missed the previous seven games because of the injury. During his time down, he has taken grounders at first as he attempts to convert from an outfielder to infielder again.

Ramirez is batting .249 with 19 homers and 53 RBI.

In May, he sprained his left shoulder making a catch and running into a side wall in left.

He hit 10 homers in April, but his power dropped after the injury.

The Red Sox announced the move on Saturday.
