NEWCASTLE — The Morse High School field hockey team made head coach Kerri Reno a winner in her coaching debut with a 4-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win over Lincoln Academy under the lights on Friday.
Katie Moore had three goals in the win, while Madeline Skroski added a goal for the 1-0 Shipbuilders, who visit Lawrence today at 4 p.m.
In goal, Madeline Baker had three saves, while Jasmine Thibodeau was a standout on defense.
Lauren Hunt scored the lone goal for Lincoln Academy (0-1).

The host Falcons received three goals and an assist from Bailey Coffin in a Western Maine Conference season opening win on Friday.
Chloe Davidson and Maya Eagan chipped in a goal and assist each, with Lauren Schenker tallying a goal.
Bailey Karnes had a solid day in the midfield and added an assist, while Maya Bradbury dished out a helper.
Freeport (1-0) goaltenders Morgan Karnes and Megan Seymour combined on four saves.
The Falcons are slated to visit Gray-New Gloucester today at 4 p.m.

The Greyhounds dropped a 1-0 Mountain Valley Conference decision against the Falcons on Friday at Lisbon Falls.
Liza White scored the lone goal for the Falcons (2-0) in the first half.
Mountain Valley goalkeeper Kassie Thibodeau had two saves on the day, while Lisbon goaltender Mikayla Harnden had four.
