She was born in Biddeford on June 6, 1940, a daughter of Robert and Laurette (Desmarais) Bergeron. She graduated in 1958 from St. Joseph High School in Biddeford.
On May 23, 1959, she married Roger E. Paquette of Saco, who preceded her in death in January 2011 after 51 years of marriage.
She was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church.
She was employed by Xuron Corp in Saco until her retirement in 2002. She also worked for 15 years as an inside sales representative. She was a dedicated worker and was well loved and respected by her co-workers and the company’s customers. Dot was so devoted to the care of her co-workers that she was often referred to as “Ma,” a person who always put others first while having a smile on her face.
She had a passion for animals and could be seen daily feeding her birds, squirrels and woodchucks. She also loved music, cooking, dancing on band night, and above all else, her family.
Prior to her employment she would often spend her days baking treats for the neighborhood kids. Dot was a wonderful cook, as well as the inspiration for her granddaughter to pursue her career in cooking. She was always preparing delicious meals for her family, making anything you wanted, no matter when, even if it was at 3 a.m. No one ever went hungry, family or animal.
She is survived by: two daughters, Donna Paquette, and Deborah Cassette and her husband Robert Cassette Jr.; her granddaughter, Crystal Pagano and her husband Matthew, all of Saco; a brother, Paul Bergeron and his wife Sandra of Biddeford; two nieces, Lorie Rancourt of Scarborough, and Jennifer Burke and her husband Brian of Biddeford; her companion, Jim Hayes of Biddeford; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dot was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and aunt.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco.
A public graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in Dot’s name to: The Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.
