LEWISTON — The Bowdoin College field hockey team turned a 1-0 lead at halftime into a 4-0 advantage seven minutes into the second half, defeating Bates 5-0 on Tuesday evening.

The Polar Bears (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) received three goals from Rachel Kennedy and two from Kimmy Ganong in the victory.

Kennedy scored in the sixth minute, banging in a shot on their third penalty corner of the game with an assist by Kelsey Mullaney.

Kennedy fed Liz Znamierowski, who in turn passed to Ganong just 42 seconds into the second half, putting Bowdoin up 2-0. Kennedy added her second tally, an unassisted goal, 93 seconds later to make it 3-0, and Ganong scored unassisted for a 4-0 Bowdoin advantage.
