The Tea Party is threatening another government shutdown unless the Republican Party defunds Planned Parenthood. Their goal is to take away the right of abortion in this country. They have already made great headway. In Red States governed by Republicans, numerous Planned Parenthood facilities have been forced to close.
Planned Parenthood has done nothing wrong. No charges have been made. They are highly respected for their health care to the poor without health insurance. The Tea Party is a religious sect intent on our country outlawing abortion for any reason.
In Uruguay an 11-year-old girl recently gave birth. She had been raped and impregnated. She was denied an abortion by the government. She is one of many forced to give birth.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
