WATERBORO — The host Mustangs overcame an own-goal as Massabesic narrowly beat Noble, 3-2, in an SMAA girls soccer game Wednesday.

The Mustangs (1-3) got goals from Madi Drain, Skylar Renaud and Emma Cost to pick up their first victory of the season.

Brenna Frye scored for the Knights (0-5).

SACO — Cassidy Cochrane scored a goal and assisted on another as Thornton Academy shut out Portland 3-0 in an SMAA girls soccer game Wednesday.

Cochrane opened the scoring for the Trojans (3- 1) just over 10 minutes into the game, then assisted Adia Beaudoin’s goal three minutes later. Faith Sinclair scored in the second half for TA.

The Trojans got four saves from goalie Lexi Nason. Taylor Crosby stopped eight shots for the Bulldogs (2-2).

BIDDEFORD 12, KENNEBUNK 1

ARUNDEL — Jason Vadnais captured low medalist honors with a round of 40 as Biddeford topped Kennebunk in an SMAA golf match at Dutch Elm Golf Club Wednesday.

The Tigers (5-0) also received a 46 from Kerry Crepeau and a 47 from Carter Burnell.

Jonah Gauthier shot a team-low 46 for the Rams, but couldn’t keep with Vadnais. Steve Anastos shot a 50 for Kennebunk to earn the Rams’ lone point, as he split both stroke play and match play with Biddeford’s Logan Magnant.

Kennebunk took the team medal by a 232-260 score.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2

CAPE NEDDICK — Seamus McDonough carded a 36 to lead Wells to a victory over visiting Gray- New Gloucester in a WMC golf match at Cape Neddick Country Club Wednesday.

The Warriors also got a 43 from Shawn Ramsey and 45s from Leo Heptig and Mikey Stivaletta.

Hunter Locke shot a 44 for the Patriots’ low round, while Adam Dubail (48) and Garrett Haskins (56) picked up points for GNG.

Wells won the team medal, 169-187.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4,
SACOPEE VALLEY 3

PARSONSFIELD — Nate Doody, Max Warren, Cameron Rice and Sean Pratt all won matches as Old Orchard Beach won its first match of the year, edging out host Sacopee Valley at Province Lake Golf Club Wednesday.

Sacopee Valley took the team medal by a 235-238 score, but the four individual match wins were enough for the Seagulls (1-4-1).
