WELLS — A 26-year-old Kennebunk man was scheduled to make his first court appearance today on an aggravated heroin trafficking charge after he was arrested Saturday on Mile Road.
Jason Alexander remained at York County Jail this morning, in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Maine State Police Sgt. Jeremy Forbes in a prepared statement said police had received information that Alexander would be in possession of a large quantity of heroin. When they stopped his vehicle at 4 p.m. Saturday, police found about 30 grams of what they believed to be heroin, as well as a small amount of a substance they believe was crack cocaine.
According to online sources, there are about 10-20 “pieces” or doses of heroin per gram.
Forbes estimated the heroin’s value to be about $1,200 or more, depending on how it was to be parceled out.
Alexander was arrested and charged with felony aggravated trafficking of heroin and taken to York County Jail.
He is scheduled to appear at Springvale District Court today via video link from York County Jail.
