OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Current Town Councilors Jay Kelley and Joseph Thornton, and Conservation Commission Chairman John Bird, will be vying for two Town Council seats.

The two Town Council seats are two-year terms.

Current Regional School Unit 23 members Jerome Plante and Stuart Hogan and former School Board candidate David Boudreau will compete for two seats on the School Board, each threeyear terms, according to information from the Town Clerk’s Office.

Voting will be held at Old Orchard Beach High School on Nov. 3. from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents will also vote in November on whether to approve the town to bond for $857,000 to fund Wastewater Treatment Facility improvements.

At a recent Town Council meeting, Wastewater Superintendent Chris White said the proposed upgrade would be for dewatering equipment, which removes wastes from solids. He said the proposed newer equipment would be automated, saving on labor, and would save money by removing more water from the solid waste product, creating less tonnage of solid waste.

Town Manager Larry Mead said the plant is old and needs to be modernized.
