Employees from the Scarborough design firm Stantec celebrated the company’s annual Community Day with a beach cleanup at Pine Point on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

In all, more than 7,300 Stantec employees volunteered for community organizations in the U.S., Canada, Barbados, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and India.

In Scarborough, company volunteers collected garbage and other debris from Pine Point Beach, both to help keep it clean and to remind beach-goers to do the same.

“We’re inspired by the communities we live in and the impact our work has on them,” Bob Gomes, Stantec’s president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.

“Stantec’s Community Day not only celebrates our commitment to community, it (also) brings our team members together to make a coordinated, local impact,” Gomes said.

He added, “Our promise at Stantec is to design with community in mind. What better way to live that promise than to get out into our local communities and roll up our sleeves?”
