From the Journal Tribune: “Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) kicked off a major capital campaign Wednesday afternoon, highlighted by a visit from Honorary Campaign Chair President George H.W. Bush. The hospital has started the ‘Lifepromise’ campaign to raise funds that would allow an expansion of its emergency center by 2008 to accommodate York County’s growing population.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Gerard Cassette, alderman from Saco’s ward 1, and a trustee of the Saco Osteopathic Hospital today said his actions in presenting a resolve designed to turn monies of the Lucia Kimball Deering Trust Fund to the Saco Osteopathic Hospital were not ‘premature’ but ‘long overdue.’ Cassette’s action at Monday night’s council meeting was termed ‘unwarranted and premature’ by Mayor Paul E. Reny yesterday.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The 92 annual meeting of the York County Association of Congregational Churches has been held the past two days at Sanford at the North Parish church. There was a good attendance of delegates and interested members of the denomination from the different cities and towns in the county and some very interesting addresses were heard.”
