AMVETS Post 2, located at 148 North Road, will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Norman Newell of Durham, commander of Post 2, said that the yard sale will be held in the parking lot, or inside the hall if it’s raining. Hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments will be sold.

Tables are available to rent for $20, and those interested should call Newell at 440-3033.

Proceeds will go to the AMVETS, its auxiliary and its sons, Newell said.

The Yarmouth Town Council and the Yarmouth Economic Development Advisory Board are setting development priorities and would like to hear from residents through a survey, which is posted on www.yarmouth.me.us. The survey takes about 10 minutes. The survey is open until Oct. 23.

Free disposal

The town has scheduled a free disposal week at the transfer station and recycling center, Monday, Oct. 19-Sunday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. There will be no fees for residents to dispose of TVs, monitors, keyboards, laptops, printers, scanners, old appliances, building materials from home projects and miscellaneous items. Hazardous waste material is not permitted. A 2015 car window sticker is required. They can be purchased at the Town Hall. For more information, see www.yarmouth.me.us.

Seventh annual

art show Oct. 21-24

The seventh annual Yarmouth Art Festival will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 396 Gilman Road in Yarmouth, from Wednesday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. An artists’ reception, including music and refreshments, will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5:30-8 p.m. Admission is free for both the festival and the reception, with donations accepted. Entry fees and sale commissions support St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church programs, including contributions and member support of local community services such as Friendship House, Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry in Portland.

Eye screening

An all-breed eye screening and microchip exam will be held Yarmouth Veterinary Center, 75 Willow St., will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, at Yarmouth Veterinary Center, 75 Willow St. It is

Assessing staff

inspections

The Yarmouth Assessing staff are continuing interior and exterior inspections of town properties. The inspections include a short walk through the home interiors and measurements of the exterior of the buildings to verify if the town’s information is correct. No interior photos will be taken.

The assessors will have proper identification from the Cumberland County Regional Assessor’s Office and will have shirts/coats noting “County Assessing.” Appointments are available upon request.
