Two Bath men have been charged with trafficking in heroin following a lengthy investigation, Bath police said Thursday.

Police say Billyjack Curtis, 41, and William Anderson, 33, both of 2 Oak St. in Bath were arrested Sunday around 5 p.m. after a brief foot chase. Police say they seized a small amount of heroin, packaging material, a digital scale, and other evidence of heroin use and trafficking.

Both Curtis and Anderson were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail, where bail for each was set at $1,000 cash. Curtis also faces a charge of violating probation from a previous burglary conviction.

The arrests were the result of a collaborative investigation by the Bath Police Department, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

If convicted of heroin trafficking, the men could face up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
