BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford Tigers celebrated Homecoming on Friday night with a 22- 8 win over visiting Kennebunk in a Class B football clash at Waterhouse Field. “It’s a good win for us,” said Biddeford coach Brian Curit, who said he knew it was going to be a hard- fought game. “I think it was exactly what we expected. Kennebunk is certainly one of our rivals.” The two defenses dominated the opening half as the Tigers took a 3- 0 lead into the break thanks to a field goal from Nick Phillips.

Following a fireworks display at halftime, both the Biddeford and Kennebunk offenses provided some excitement of their own in the third quarter. Biddeford made it a 10- 0 lead when Curtis Petit, who was filling in for standout running back Lucas Rhoy, scored on a 15- yard run. “He did a great job,” said Curit of Petit. “If you think about the shoes he had to fill, Lucas Rhoy is one of the most dynamic players in the entire state. I thought he did a good job tonight.” The lead would extend to 16- 0 later in the third, when Josh Dutremble scored from two yards out. Kennebunk was able to cut the lead in half when Justin Wiggins tossed a 50- yard TD pass and also ran in the two- point conversion. Biddeford put the game away in the fourth with a 30- yard scoring run from junior quarterback Joey Curit. The Tigers, who now sit at 5- 2, will host Leavitt in another important Class B showdown next Friday night. Kennebunk, which drops to 5- 2 with the loss, will try to bounce back against Noble on Friday.
