From the Journal Tribune: “The owner of the local trolley line was worried Thursday that the proposed publicly-funded regional shoreline trolley system could hurt her private company. … Kathy Guay, owner of In-Town Trolley in Kennebunkport, said she understood that the Shoreline Trolley could not come into Kennebunkport and sell ads for its trolleys because that would mean a public entity was competing with private industry.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Officials of Biddeford-Saco-Old Orchard Beach announced today that Halloween celebrations in the three communities would be observed on Saturday night to coincide with the UNICEF drive sponsored by the Biddeford-Saco Council of Churches. Mayor Edward Gaulin, of Biddeford, Paul E. Reny of Saco and Leon F. Jones, town manager of Old Orchard Beach agreed to the date in response to many inquiries from residents of the area, since Halloween falls on Sunday this year.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A student at the Kennebunk high school is at the Webber hospital suffering with a fracture in each wrist. The young man received his injuries when he jumped from a second story window of the high school building in Kennebunk, striking on a pile of ashes in such a way that the bones in each wrist were fractured. Otherwise the youth escaped injury.”
