Meetings
The Durham Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m., at the Durham Town Office.
A meeting of the Durham Historic District Commission will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the Durham Town Office.
Community Lunch serving Nov. 17
The home-cooked Community Lunch is Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the First Congregational Church of Durham, located at the intersection of routes 9 and 136. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and lunch is served at noon. On the menu is beef stew, rolls and desserts. For those interested, the book club will discuss the first book recommended, which was “The Orphan Train,” written by Christina Baker Kline.
The general schedule is the first and third Tuesday of the month. The suggested donation for lunch is $2 to $4. All proceeds fund future lunches. Those interested in helping or have questions can call Julie Wagoner at 353-9715.
Otto Pizza hosts fundraiser
On Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving, Otto Pizza, 367 Main St., Yarmouth, will donate a percentage of its lunch and dinner sales to the Freeport, Pownal and Durham Education Foundation, which supports all Regional School Unit 5 schools by granting funds for supplemental projects and innovations. Snowmobile club meeting monthly

PTA fair on Saturday
The Durham Community School PTA is having its fifth annual craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the school gymnasium. There will be more than 35 local crafters. Gun raffle tickets on sale
Durham Fire & Rescue has launched its annual “30 Days – 30 Guns in November” gun raffle.
The organization is again working with Johnson’s Sporting Goods. Tickets are $20 each and can be
purchased from any member of the Durham Fire & Rescue Department. Those interested can stop by the station at 615 Hallowell Road or call 353-2473. Tickets can also be purchased at the Durham Get & Go at 697 Royalsborough Road. Sales are limited to 3,000 tickets, so the odds of winning are 1 in 100.

‘The Nutcracker’ features local dancers
Six Durham residents will be among the 300 dancers performing in the Maine State Ballet’s “The Nutcracker,” at Portland’s Merrill Auditorium, Saturday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Dec. 6. The performances will also feature live music from the Maine State Ballet Orchestra, singing from the Musica de Filia Girls Chorus, and costumes and stage scenery by Gail Csoboth.
Performances are Saturday, Nov. 28, at 2 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. The local dancers are Paige Gelhar, Sydney Gelhar, Mackenzie Margerison, Amelia Piercy, Ava Piercy and Gwenyth Thornton.

Couponing sessions
Couponing for the Community meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Eureka Community Center. It is a chance to learn couponing basics from Pat Provost, who also shows members how to use some of their coupons to benefit families in the community and military families overseas. Weekly cribbage
The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Route 9 and Route 136, hosts cribbage every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon.
Rent Eureka Center

Food pantry
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) food pantry, which serves the towns of Durham, Bowdoin, and Lisbon Falls, is open Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday from 8-10 a.m. The LACO Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street, Lisbon Falls. The parking lot is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church, off Berry Avenue. There is also a free clothing bank. The First Congregational Church of Durham UCC, 773 Royalsborough Road, holds Sunday worship at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Mercer. Sunday, Nov. 15, is Pledge Sunday. The Thanksgiving Sunday worship is Nov. 22. An interfaith service at the Shiloh Chapel is at 7 p.m. The Hanging of the Greens is Saturday, Nov 28, time to be announced. Sunday, Nov. 29, is the First Sunday in Advent Worship.
