Beaver Moon, 5:30 p.m. Nov. 25, York

Join the Center for Wildlife and its staff for a hike guided by the full beaver moon. These nocturnal mammals are an important part of many ecosystems. The evening’s program will begin in the center’s Learning Lodge, where the staff will discuss the ecology of beavers and other nocturnal wildlife. Inspired to Ride, 2 p.m. Dec. 1, Brunswick

The documentary about the inaugural TransAm Bike Race, “Inspired to Ride,” will begin a week-long run at the Frontier Cinema and Cafe. The documentary follows the first bike race along the TransAmerica Trail held in 2014, when 45 cyclists set out on the 4,233-mile self-supported trip from Oregon to Virginia. The documentary was made by the same directors of the film “Ride the Divide.” The Frontier Cinema is at 14 Maine St. Tickets are $12. Nature Writing, 10 a.m. in Jefferson

Hidden Valley Nature Center is offering nature writing and journaling classes led by Andrea Lani, who will teach how to observe the natural world more keenly and how to describe it in writing. Beginner writers are welcome. Students will try different styles of writing, and share and discuss their work. Dress for the weather and bring a journal or paper. A camp chair is also recommended, as well as lunch. The class is free for nature center members and members of the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance and Damariscotta Watershed Association. Brook Trout Ponds, 7 p.m. in Scarborough

Kennebec River Outfitters owner Bob Mallard will share his presentation on Maine brook trout ponds with charts, maps and photos at the monthly meeting of the Sebago chapter of Trout Unlimited.
