WELLS — Mitch Libby led the Wells High School cross country team this last season.

Other than his raw ability as a runner, he also carries a strong work ethic and much enthusiasm for the sport, which also made a big impact on the guys around him.

“Mitch is very coachable, he is always upbeat and ready, he excelled through the entire season, only a couple of bumps along the way. In the championship events he excelled at a greater rate and impacted the team greatly,” said coach Bob Winn.

Not only did Libby set a good example for his teammates on the course, but he also is a proven student whose dedication has also left an impression on the team.

“Mitch is a scholar student, who carries himself very confidently who is part of group of young men who work well as one,” said Winn.

Winn believes that Libby has the ability to excel in the future and fully expects him to have success. Although Winn has that confidence, he plans on letting Libby choose his own path.

“Mitch has great potential to be one of the top runners in the state in all classes,” said Winn. “But I leave that up to him as well as the others to decide the direction they want to go to excel, and then we move in that direction.”
