SACO — Barbara D. Moody, 80, of Saco, passed away at her home on Nov. 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born in Portland on May 22, 1935, to Raymond and Estelle Dunn. She graduated from Deering High School in 1953, and from Westbrook Junior College in 1955. She worked as a sales representative for Jack Frost Ski Shop in North Conway, New Hampshire and then as a medical secretary for Dr. Henry Finks when she moved back to Portland in 1959.

As her family grew, Barbara retired from work to raise her five children. She later returned to work as an educational technician in the Saco School System for several years.

Barbara’s foremost passion was her family, raising not only her children but caring for all of her grandchildren as they grew up. She also enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles and cats. Her family fondly remembers many funny stories of growing up with those numerous cats, and those stories are still shared at family gatherings. A passion for knitting was evident in her handmade Christmas stockings she knit for all her children and grandchildren. She spent much of her adult life on one sport’s field or another, watching her husband coach or her children and grandchildren play thousands of baseball and soccer games. She also attended many of her granddaughter’s Irish step dancing activities.

Barbara was quiet, but had a wonderful sense of humor that those who knew her could always look forward to. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her beautiful blue eyes, kind words, and loving touch made you instantly understand how much love she had for all.

Barbara is survived by: her husband of 58 years, Robert E. Moody; and their five children, Tim and his wife Kathy of Saco, Shawn and his wife Pam of Hollis Center, Mark and his wife Lori of San Diego, Todd and his wife Loretta of San Diego, and Robyn and her husband Dan Donovan of Saco. She was always a doting grandmother to: her 12 grandchildren, Kyle, Erik, Ryan, Kristopher, Keegan, Madison, Morgan, Kirsten, Griffin, Danielle, Casey Mae, and Cody; and her two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Andrew.

Visiting hours will be held at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco, on Saturday, Nov. 28 from noon to 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. To view Barbara’s memorial page or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com
