
He was born in Biddeford, the son of Louis and Gladys Dinsmore Gomez Sr.
He attended Biddeford schools.
He co-owned and operated Lou’s Outboard shop with his father in Camp Ellis. He serviced Johnson outboard motors for many years and could diagnose the problem before it was out of the trunk.
“Louie” was a familiar sight on the Saco River and was known to have aided boaters in distress in dangerous water conditions.
His hobbies included feather weight boxing, racing stock cars at Beech Ridge Speedway and snowmobiles.
Lou also participated in the State of Maine Delegation of the National Bicentennial wagon and horseback trek with Washington D.C.
He is survived by: his long time companion, Cecile Webster; four daughters, Linda Freeland of Saco, Carolyn Rouillard of East Waterboro, Donna Nascimento of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Lynn Underwood of Saco; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may call at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 365 Main St., Saco, Friday Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Fairfield Section.
