
Although disabled, his interest in and love of people was always evident. While a resident at Augusta Mental Health Institute, he initiated a program and recruited local bakeries to donate and deliver birthday cakes to elderly residents.
Gerard was also a lover of animals and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by: his mother in 2006; Bernadette Lefebvre, his “second mother,” in 2004; a brother Leo Desrosiers in 1993; and a sister Irene Jennison in 2008.
Gerard is survived by: his father of Saco; two brothers, Patrick Desrosiers and his wife Diane of Saco, and Marcel J. Desrosiers and his wife Ellen of Gorham; two sisters, Lucille Millerlielle and her husband Dave of Hubbard, Ohio, and Donna Huot of Scarborough; his former wife Doreen Desrosiers of Biddeford; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 at St. Anne’s Chapel of St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
