Coach’s outlook: The boys team is small in numbers but is not lacking talent. Returning from last year’s team are Alex Sullivan, Andrew Zogg and Angus McLean, who will lead the Rams in the water this season.
Kennebunk girls
Coach: Andrew Coulombe
Last year’s record: 9-0
Key returning swimmers: Marshall Lowery, Fiona Harms, Renee Nichols, Britta Brown, Sydney Macedo, Olivia McLean, Julia Milligan, Emma Patterson
Key newcomers: Isabel Harms, Caroline Lowery, Molly Hetzel
Coach’s outlook: The ultimate goal is to be swimming and diving at our best for our two championship meets in February. We will have a new challenge as we move into Class B for the state finals. The girls team is strong with lots of depth and looks to challenge the best teams in Class B. They return eight scorers from last years State championship meet, led by Marshall Lowery, Fiona Harms, and Renee Nichols.
Massabesic boys
Coach: Christian Niven Last year’s record: 7-1
Key returning swimmers: Caleb Fushichillo, Ryan Burke, Jacob Bixby
Key newcomers: Quinn Judkins
Coach’s outlook: We’re hoping to compete at South Southwesterns and it is a building year.
Massabesic girls
Coach: Christian Niven
Last year’s record: 8-0
Key returning swimmers: Elaine Dudley, Amanda Dudley, Sophia LaFrance, Joanna LaFrance, Morgan Houk
Key newcomers: Paige Houk, Eryn Chretein, Alison Ryan, Kennadee Knight
Coach’s outlook: Similar to the boys, but we’re hoping to place a little higher at states than previous years.
Sanford boys
Coach: Scott Keeney
Last year’s record: 5-3
Key returning swimmers: Noah Cadigan, Carson Peterpaul
Key newcomers: Patrick Morris, Colton Hebert, Abe Phillips, Ryan Pepin
Coach’s outlook: The team has grown from 40 to 55, so the numbers are strong. Several very talented freshmen have joined the team, as well as our solid crew of returners. We should make some noise in our conference, not only with the stars but with a large supporting cast.
Sanford girls
Coach: Scott Keeney
Last year’s record: 5-3
Key returning swimmers: Quinn Severs, Grace Hansen
Key newcomers: Hanah Couture, Delaney Tanguay, Tiffany Twombley
Coach’s outlook: The team has grown from 40 to 55, so the numbers are strong. Several very talented freshmen have joined the team, as well as our solid crew of returners. We should make some noise in our conference, not only with the stars but with a large supporting cast.
Thornton Academy boys
Coach: Kathleen Leahy
Key returning swimmers: Matt Hall, William Morris, Ethan Dupuis
Key newcomers: Andrew Cote, Felix Machacek
Coach’s Outlook: We won about half of our meets last year, so we did okay, but I think we have improved and will do better this year.
Thornton Academy girls
Coach: Kathleen Leahy
Key returning swimmers: Shannon Fralley, Lily Khalifa, Megan Yudaken
Key newcomers: Anna DiMatteo, Grace Soucy
Coach’s outlook: I think we have a good team this year, a lot of returning swimmers, so I expect us to perform well like last year.
