WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — Residents of Windsor Locks have weighed in on the possibility of a large-scale casino development in the town.
The Hartford Courant reports that of the two dozen people who spoke at a public hearing Tuesday night, about half favored seeking a casino because of the potential for job creation. But the other half expressed concerns about public safety and gambling addiction, among other things.
Leaders of the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes have asked officials in Windsor Locks and three other communities to submit proposed locations for a joint casino. The tribes had originally planned to announce a community last week but put off that decision.
