The Friends of Maine Hockey will host the annual Skate with the Bears event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. This popular family event is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to meet the players from the Maine men’s hockey team and have their pictures taken. Pick up a free player autograph sheet and gather as many autographs as you can. Friends of Maine Hockey board members will be on hand to answer your questions about their organization and the hockey team. This event is free and open to the public. Skates are not necessary.
Maine Juniors Volleyball under-12 placement tryouts will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 3 at Greely Middle School. The tryout is for players ages 9 to 12. For information on the program, go to www.mainejuniors.org or contact Kris Dorer at 590-1486.
