BIDDEFORD— Kelly and Brady Crepeau netted two goals apiece as the Biddeford Tigers (3-3-0), Class A South sailed to a 7-2 victory over the Kennebunk Rams, Class B South (3-4-1) at the Biddeford Ice Arena.
Biddeford’s Ricky Ruck netted an unassisted break away tally at 2:05 of the first period giving The Tigers an early 1-0 lead. Kennebunk’s Boden Beveridge answered at 14:05 of the first period on a power play tyingthe score at one. Patrick Gassman and Miles Eaton assisted on the Kennebunk tally.
In the opening frame The Tigers went scoreless on their lone power play chance, The Rams converted on the second of their two power play opportunities.
A dominant five goal second period aided the Tigers in upping the lead to 5-1.
First, Brady Crepeau netted a goal for the Tigers at 1:21 from Kerry Crepeau increasing the lead to 2-1. Logan Magnant beat Ram net minder Spencer DesRoschers at 3:36 from Dylan Demers resulting in a 3-1 lead.
At 8:53 Brady Crepeau returned the favor finding Kerry Crepeau for a goal at 8:53 making it 4-1. Curtis Petit scored the last second period goal at 13:15 from Logan Magnant.
The Tigers did not have a power play chance in the second period, and Kennebunk went scoreless on their two power play chances.
Jacob Cyr replaced DesRoschers in goal to begin the third period. The Tigers once again opened up the scoring as Kerry Crepeau netted his second goal of the night, unassisted, at 1:09 of the third period upping the lead to 6-1.
Kennebunk’s Miles Eaton beat Biddeford goalie Tom Green at 4:28 off a pass from Kyle Beaupre narrowing the gap to 6-2. Brady Crepeau netted his second tally at 10:53 of the third period from Curtis Petit finalizing the 7-2 victory for Biddeford.
Biddeford coach Richard Reissfelder was proud of his team, especially goalie Tom Green.
“A great effort by Tom (Green) in goal but also a phenomenal effort,” said Reissfelder.
On the other hand, Kennebunk coach Sean Smith was frustrated with his team’s loss.
“There was no excuse,” said Smith.
Kennebunk had been without Beveridge for a month, but according to Smith, the loss came from many factors.
Tiger net minder Tom Green saved 22 of 24 shots. Kennebunk goaltender Spencer DesRochers saved 19 of 24 shots faced through the first two periods. Jacob Cyr saved 12 of 14 shots faced in the third period for Kennebunk.
The Biddeford Tigers return to the ice for a New Year’s Eve clash with rival Thornton Academy at 1:00 PM at the Biddeford Ice Arena. Kennebunk faces the Scarborough Red Storm on Saturday January 2, 2016 at The Harold Alfond Forum Ice Arena for an 8:00 PM puck drop.
