The Maine Red Claws went on a tear in the third quarter Saturday night, then pulled away to a 104-87 victory against the Santa Cruz Warriors in a D-League game at the Portland Expo.

The Red Claws took control with a 31-19 run in the third quarter, including shooting 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, to win their fifth straight.

Maine led by three points after the first quarter, then stretched its lead to nine with a 34-28 second quarter.

The Red Claws (11-6) led by as many as 23 points late in the third quarter.

Maine shot 47.6 percent from the field for the game, going 16 of 36 on 3-pointers.

Jordan Mickey led a balanced offense with 17 points and had four blocked shots. Six Maine players finished in double figures and all 11 who played scored.

Reserve Davion Berry had 16 points and grabbed nine boards, Coty Clarke and Omari Johnson each tossed in 14 points, and Johnson went 4 of 7 from behind the arc.

Maurice Baker scored 22 points for Santa Cruz (9-10). Dan Nwaelele added 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Daring Hobson added 12 points.

The Red Claws will face the Delaware 87ers at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Portland Expo before heading to Santa Cruz, California, on Jan. 7-8 for the annual D-League Showcase.
