BRUNSWICK — Martha Maureen McGuire passed away on Dec. 29, 2015, after a short battle with cancer.

She was a graduate of Traip Academy in Kittery, were she played basketball and was a member of the Drum Corps. It is through the Drum Corps that she met her husband John F. McGuire. They were married on May 1, 1965. They took residence in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Fort Riley, Kansas, as John was in the Army, finally settling in Woolwich where they raised their two children.

Marty loved to travel and her favorite trip was to Ireland in 2003. She was an avid hockey fan. She loved the Bruins, she hated the Bruins, she loved to hate the Bruins. She worked 30 years as a property manager, both locally and in Portland, retiring in 2010. Her biggest pleasure was spending time with her many friends and family.

She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Julia Cribby of Kittery, her husband John F. McGuire Jr. of Woolwich.

She is survived by her son, Kevin McGuire of Portland and his two children Sean and Natalie; her daughter Maureen McGuire of

In lieu of flowers, please if you wish, make a donation in memory of Marty to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

A time of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath, Maine 04530. Burial will take place in the spring.
