SCARBOROUGH — Richard E. Cobb, 82, of Scarborough, died Dec. 28, surrounded by his loving wife and other members of his family.

He was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Portland, the son of Pearle and Erlon Cobb of Portland.

He worked at Theodore’s Lobster House and Sportsman’s Grill for many years, and later worked for the Portland School Department, retiring in 1995.

Cobb cherished the times he experienced while traveling to places such as Germany, Lake George, New York, and his most recent trip to New York and New Jersey. He also enjoyed special times at his daughter’s camp and family Christmas gatherings.

In addition to his parents, Cobb was predeceased by a sister, Sally (Cobb) Frost, of New Jersey, a brother, Donald Cobb, of Portland and a grandson, Steven Delano of Scarborough.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia (Noel) Cobb, of Scarborough; five daughters Cindy Delano, of Scarborough, Sonja Ford, of Durham, Peggy Barabe, of Phoenix, Arizona, Judy Gauvin, of Old Orchard Beach, and Beverly Brown, of Scarborough; a son, Richard Jr. of Saco,10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Sosebee, of South Portland; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Raymond on Jan. 6.
