PORTLAND (AP) — The Portland Zoning Board of Appeals has delayed its ruling on a local brewery’s request to overturn a decision prohibiting them from selling snacks to visitors in its tasting room.
The Portland Press Herald reports Allagash Brewing Co. hoped to obtain a license from that would allow them to sell prepackaged foods, such as pretzels or chips, to visitors of the company’s Industrial Parkway brewery.
City officials requested that the zoning board table its ruling on the appeal while accommodations for Portland’s ever-expanding craft beer scene are explored. The city is home to 13 of Maine’s roughly 50 breweries.
