OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Wednesday night’s boys basketball clash between Freeport and Old Orchard Beach went back-and-forth, but it would be the host Seagulls picking up a hard-fought 59-58 win.
The game was tied at 37-37 at the half and OOB would take a slim 49- 47 lead into the final period.
OOB was led by junior standout Evan Christensen with 23 points, while both Erik Hogan and Ian Regan added 13 points in the win.
Nate Pellitier led four Freeport players in double figures with 13 points.
The Seagulls, who improved to 8-3 with the win, will host A.R. Gould tonight.
Wrestling
Noble 38, Massabesic 36
Noble and Massabesic would each win seven bouts on Wednesday, but it would be the visiting Knights who earned enough bonus points to pick up the win.
Noble would earn bonus points in six of their seven wins, while Massabesic finished with five pins and two decisions.
Picking up falls for Massabesic were Noah McGrath (132), Noah Schneider (182), James Cline (195), Matt Carroll (220) and Branden St. Laurent (285).
Leo Amabile picked up a hard-fought 4-1 win over Duncan McGilvery at 106 pounds and Logan Martin was an 11-8 winner over Kasey Rogers at 152 pounds.
