SACO — The Student Association at University College in Saco recently donated more than 60 pairs of socks to the Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Biddeford.

The Student Association collected the donated socks through the “Socks for Seniors” program, a non-profit community service project that organizes, collects and distributes new socks for seniors in communities all over the country. Community members were invited to drop off donations at University College and were entered into a raffle for a free Kindle Fire reader.

“The Student Association at University College in Saco was proud to help with this worthy cause, especially during the holiday season,” Brittany Vincent, president of the association, said in a statement. “The holidays can be the friendliest and most giving time of year, but for some it can also be a depressing time of year, and our seniors can get lost in the shuffle. Socks for Seniors helps to bring holiday cheer along with a pair of new socks to warm the hearts and cover the cold feet of our elderly.”

The sock donations were presented to Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center on Dec. 23 by members of the Student Association.
