ORONO — Steven Swavely scored a short-handed goal and Matt Morris made 34 saves as Maine played to a 1-1 tie against Connecticut in a Hockey East game Saturday night at Alfond Arena.

Maine (5-13-4, 2-6-2 Hockey East) took the lead midway through the second period when Swavely collected the puck on the fly in the neutral zone, charged straight down the middle of the ice and slid a backhander past goalie Rob Nichols.

Max Letunov answered for Connecticut (8-13-2, 4-7-2) with a power-play goal three minutes into the third period.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, ST. MICHAEL’S 1: Kyle Williams, Danny Antonoff and Cassidy April scored in the third period as the Nor’easters (10-4-2, 6-4-1 NEHC) broke a 1-1 tie and extended their winning streak to six games with a victory over the Purple Knights (4-12, 4-11) in South Burlington, Vermont.

UNE’s Jackson Tucker opened the scoring in the first period.

Mason Riley stopped 34 shots for the Nor’easters.

NORWICH 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Tyler Piacentini’s goal with eight seconds left in overtime lifted the Cadets (12-6, 7-4 NEHC) over the Huskies (5-11-1, 2-9) in Northfield, Vermont.

Dylan Pietrangelo had 35 saves for USM.

TRINITY 3, BOWDOIN 1: Matt Sullivan scored an unassisted goal in the first period and Peter Cronin made 41 saves for the Polar Bears (4-7-3, 2-5-3 NESCAC) in a loss to the Bantams (10-3-1, 6-2) in Hartford, Connecticut.

COLBY 2, WESLEYAN 2: Andy Espinoza’s goal in the final minute of regulation enabled the Cardinals (0-7-7, 0-2-6 NESCAC) to tie the Mules (5-6-4, 3-5-2) at Middletown, Connecticut.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 5, MANHATTANVILLE 4: Emily Corrales notched a hat trick and the Nor’easters (8-5-2, 3-4-1 NEHC) withstood a third-period rally by the Valiants (5-8, 3-5) in Rye, New York.

Sydney Helmbrecht had 31 saves for UNE.

NORTHEASTERN 8, MAINE 1: Denisa Krizova recorded a hat trick and Kendall Coyne had five assists for the Huskies (19-4-2, 14-2 Hockey East) in a win over the Black Bears (7-15-2, 3-11-1) at Boston.

Audra Richards scored for Maine in the third period.

SALVE REGINA 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Ally Vanidestine’s first-period goal was offset by Briana D’Avolio’s two goals in the second period as the Seahawks (6-7-2, 4-3-1 NEHC) beat the Huskies (2-12-1, 1-6-1) in Newport, Rhode Island.

AMHERST 3, BOWDOIN 1: Katie Savage and Katelyn Pantera each had a goal and an assist as the Lord Jeffs (9-1-3, 5-1-2 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (6-6, 3-3) in Brunswick.

Julie Dachille gave Bowdoin a 1-0 lead in the first period.

WILLIAMS 2, COLBY 1: Sara Lehman scored with 18 seconds left to lift the Ephs (8-5, 5-3 NESCAC) over the Mules (5-7-3, 3-4-1) in Waterville.

Katie McLaughlin redirected Kat Mackey’s shot to put Colby ahead 38 seconds into the game.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 65, ROGER WILLIAMS 60: Sadie DiPierro’s 3-pointer started a game-ending 9-0 run as the Nor’easters (11-3, 8-0 Commonwealth Coast) rallied for a win over the Hawks (8-7, 5-3) in Biddeford.

Alicia Brown finished with 20 points, Meghan Gribbin scored 13 and Lauren Hayden had 10 for UNE.

ST. JOSEPH’S 64, LASELL 34: Morgan Cahill had 20 points and 15 rebounds while leading the Monks (11-3, 2-0 GNAC) past the Lasers (8-7, 1-2) in Newton, Massachusetts.

SOUTHERN MAINE 68, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 55: Ella Ramonas scored seven of her 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Huskies (9-6, 4-1 Little East) surged past UMass-Dartmouth (9-5, 1-4) in Gorham.

Alexa Srolovitz added 13 points for USM, which trailed 50-48 early in the fourth quarter but seized control with a 14-0 run.

MIDDLEBURY 61, BATES 56: Bernadette Connors and Nina Davenport led Bates (5-10, 1-3 NESCAC) with 17 points apiece in a loss to the Panthers (9-5, 2-2) in Lewiston.

LASELL 80, ST. JOSEPH’S 75: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored 19 points for St. Joseph’s (5-10, 2-6 GNAC), but the Monks’ upset bid fell short against the Lasers (10-4, 7-0) in Newton, Massachusetts.

ROGER WILLIAMS 76, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 70: Austin Coene scored 26 points to pace the Hawks (7-8, 5-3 CCC) to a win over the Nor’easters (9-6, 4-4) in Biddeford.

UNE got 14 points from Devin Thompson, 13 each from Matt Lettick and Gavin Dibble, and 10 from C.J. Autry.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 91, SOUTHERN MAINE 90: The Huskies (8-7, 2-3 Little East) nearly rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit but missed two shots in the closing seconds as they lost to the Corsairs (9-6, 2-3) in Gorham.

Zach Leal paced USM with 27 points. Atencio Martin added 21, and Jose Nouchanthavong and Ben Jackson each scored 12.

MIDDLEBURY 73, BATES 61: Bryan Jones scored all 11 of his points during a 15-0 run in the first half as the Panthers (9-7, 3-1 NESCAC) beat Bates (9-7, 2-2) in Middlebury, Vermont.

Marcus Delpeche led Bates with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jerome Darling added 11 points and Josh Britten scored 10.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 84, CCRI 76: Grayson Waterman scored 20 points and the Nor’easters (9-12) overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half against Community College of Rhode Island, in South Portland.

Jordan DeRosby and Ville Wuorenjuuri each added 13 points, and Jack Tolan chipped in with 10.
