An early-morning fire at 44 Maple St. has displaced a family of five. Saco Fire Chief John Duross said firefighters arrived to the scene just before 1:30 a.m. today. The fire started in the back of the home in a storage area, he said. There was extensive damage to the home, which includes two stories and an attic. Duross said the family left the home safely, and are staying with family members. A cause of the fire has not been determined, but it does not appear to be suspicious, Duross said. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. Saco firefighters received assistance from fire departments in Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach and Goodwin’s Mills.
