PORTLAND (AP) — The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has upheld the 2014 conviction of a man found guilty of pushing his wife off a 700-foot cliff in Camden Hills State Park in April 2011.

The Portland Press Herald reports Charles Black brought his appeal to Maine’s highest court in October, arguing that his trial should’ve been moved given the publicity surrounding the attack on his wife Lisa Zahn.

The justices rejected Black’s argument on Jan. 14, stating that he didn’t object to jury selection in his case. Black was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with all but 10 years suspended.

Prosecutors say Black stood to gain $4 million his wife inherited in 2010 by killing her.

Zahn landed on a small ledge and survived the fall. The couple has since divorced.
