ARROWSIC — Guy M. Yeaton, 78, of Arrowsic Road, died on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, after a 10-year battle with COPD at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Islesboro on Jan. 10, 1938, a son of Clyde A. and Gwendolyn F. (Clements) Yeaton.

He graduated from Morse High School in the class of 1956 and entered the U.S. Air Force. On Oct. 26, 1962, he married his soul mate (Gloria Lawrence Yeaton) who he always said kept him going long after his time. He was employed at BIW as a ship superintendent and later as a consultant, retiring in 2006.

He was inducted into the Brunswick Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1986, past member of Bath and Brunswick Golf Courses. The first of his favorite golfing moments was caddying for U.S. Open Champion Julius Boros in 1952, the second was getting his hole in one at the Bath Golf Course. He was a member of the Bath Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golf, bowling and playing pool.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Yeaton of Arrowsic, two sons, Rick Yeaton of Bath, Frederick Elwell and his wife Kimberly of Brunswick, one daughter, Susan (Elwell) Fillion and her husband Wayne of Brunswick, one brother, Keith Yeaton and his wife Patricica of Lisbon Falls, one sister, Carolyn Pittenger of Mississippi, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bath Elks Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
